When Summer Camp Came To Town

Every year like any other 11 year old girl I go to summer camp. Not just a summer camp. The summer camp -- Silver Penny -- it's a great way to spend your summer ---- if you like acting, of course. There's acting, dance, musical theater, and plain singing. You can put on plays and/or skits with your friends! Last year I made 4 or 5 new friends and we were all content together. In theater we all split into groups and made a skit. My group was me plus my buddies. The acting teacher had an idea that all the groups could combine their plays into one. And everyone did --- except our group. The skit we made was so significant and different that we got to perform ours separately at the end. When camp finished, we put on a play for the parents and everything went great. I was so looking forward to going next year!
I think you've all got the idea about what happened by now.
This year we figured out that Silver Penny was shutting down. Even after I had been going there for almost 4 years!!! This year I'm going to a writing camp. I've only been going there for 4 days and have already written about 7 pieces. I'm aware that some of my writing is not what all adults think of as "Superb" but it's what I've got. I was hoping that if you find this blog in time that you might enjoy reading some of them (Not to be braggy or anything). And don't worry-- I can take truthful comments or suggestions. I'm only going to list one or two this time. But I'll list more tomorrow. The first one is a beginning to the main story that I will be writing (No title yet). The second one is about my favorite place.

Intro
My father is a scientist. Not just a scientist-- a mad scientist. He has traveled all over the world with his inventions. He has met some of the world's greatest inventors. While I, his daughter, am just a normal girl.
My name is Katie Zeem. I am 12 years old living in a house filled with different colored contraptions. Blue, yellow, red-- whatever you can think of. There are shapely buttons blinking in every other beat that comes to mind. obviously, for my father there is always an easier way to do things. For example, breakfast is not just a pan and a spoon. It's rows of strings, ramps, and drop-offs. Eggs rolling, baken sliding, it's all automatic to him.

Cape Hatteras
My favorite place to be is Cape Hatteras. The sounds are terrific. All you hear is the ocean-- waves crashing, wind blowing. The sand is soft in certain places, crunchy and hard in others. Sometimes the sand is even different colors! I love to just lye under my umbrella and watch as high tide begins. Or even read on one of the white beach chairs on the porch. You can go to the top porch, where everything can be seen, even though it's small, or go to the second level , where the big porch is. But my favorite is the bottom porch, where the hot tub is. There you can relax and see the beach at the same time. But Cape Hatteras isn't only special because it's a beach. In the year 1500, a Spanish ship crashed on the shores. Part of it has washed up. You can see the spikes of the ship. And if you're lucky, when low tide comes, more of the ship will appear! And can see all of this from your porch.
